It’s time for the August Battle of the Beauty Box, this month Sephora Play chose the theme Makeup Geek and Ipsy chose the theme Good Vibes Only but who will reign supreme in this battle?
BeautyBlender Micro.Mini – A revolutionary mini makeup applicator sponge for highlighting, contouring and concealing. Perfectly shaped to reach the smallest parts of your face.
Clinique HIM Duel-Ended High Impact Mascara & Primer Duo – Two-sided lash primer and mascara for longer – lasting eye looks and full, soft, lustrous lashes.
HOURGLASS Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick in Beige – Highly pigmented foundation with the coverage of a concealer, smoothness of a liquid, and weightlessness of a powder.
LANCER The Method Polish – Effective skin-resurfacing treatment uses natural plant enzymes and microdermabrasion crystals to reveal radiant skin.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo – Powered by a new, patented molecule, this effective dry shampoo absorbs excess oil and makes hair look and feel refreshed.
Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue – This fresh, citrusy scent channels the sunshine-filled Mediterranean Sea with notes of bluebell, white rose and amber.
First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay – It’s gorgeous! The enticing, jewel-red color of this cleanser comes from the natural shade of its powerhouse ingredient, red clay. No artificial colorants, or fragrances, but it smells amazing thanks to rosemary oil. The gel turns into foam as you suds up, sweeping away makeup, dirt, and oil. Your skin will feel squeaky clean, but not stripped.
TheBalm Cosmetics TheBalm Voyage Vol.2 Eyeshadow in Kuwakaribisha – A beautiful glowing creation! This pale peachy powder is super pigmented, shimmery but not sparkly and is totally buildable (in case you want your highlight to be EXTRA). Apply it underneath your brow bones and at the inner corners of your eyes whenever you need to wake things up a bit, or a neutral eyeshadow to balance out cat eyes, cut creases and all that fun stuff.
Seraphine Botanicals Liquid Coal Waterproof Liquid Liner – The precise Rubberflex tip allows you to craft a perfect ultra-black cat-eye with one sweep thanks to it being super pigmented (Blacker than midnight). It’s also Vegan, gluten free and GMO free!
Naked Cosmetics HD Finishing Translucent Powder – This finely milled powder is super lightweight so you’ll never look chalky or cakey. It’s great for helping lengthen the wear of your makeup, but can also be worn alone to even things out, brighten, or tone down the shine.
SLMissGlam T35 Precise Blending Brush – This is a gorgeous teal-shaded brush that is great for blending and adding a pop of bling to your morning routine. It’s super durable, the bristles are silky soft and it’s completely cruelty-free!
I enjoy the micro beauty blender, I love using it as a “spot fixer”. The Clinique mascara is wonderful it gives you lush full lashes and is the perfect size for on the go. I am super excited that I got to try out the Hourglass Vanish foundation stick, it’s a beautiful color that matches perfectly with my skin, it glides on smoothly and leaves me with a flawless finish. I LOVE Lancer The Method: polish it’s amazing for my dry skin especially when it becomes flaky. It leaves my face feeling fresh, clean and vibrant. I’m not a big fan of dry shampoo, I’ve tried them before and they always made my hair look worse than it was originally; with that being said I actually was surprised by the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day dry shampoo, it has a nice scent and it made my hair feel and look cleaner. The Dolce&Gabbana light blue fragrance is nice and doesn’t dissipate too quickly which I enjoy.
I think the Ipsy bags this month are totally adorable, they have 3 different versions. I enjoyed the FirstAid Beauty I enjoyed that it didn’t contain any artificial colorants or fragrances that might irritate my skin. I’ve used lots of red clay scrubs before but this one definitely stood out with it’s foaming power. I love theBalm cosmetics and this eyeshadow didn’t disappoint one bit. It’s beautifully pigmented and goes fantastic with any look. The Seraphine Botanicals eyeliner is another great product, I love the precision tip, it’s great for cat-eyes and the pigment means I only need to do one sweep instead of layer after layer. I enjoy Naked Cosmetics but I wasn’t exactly impressed with this HD translucent powder and couldn’t tell a difference between it and my bareMinerals. I love my SLMissGlam T35 brush, it’s perfect for blending and adding a pop of color, and I love that it’s cruelty-free.
So who do you think won this beauty box battle Sephora Play or Ipsy? While I really enjoyed both beauty boxes and they each had things I loved and things I didn’t love as much I’ve decided that … IPSY WINS this battle!
