Sorry this post is a lot later than I usually post it. I’m very behind if you haven’t been able to tell but I’m hoping you enjoy this post as much as my previous ones :). Thanks for stopping by now let’s get to the battle between the IPSY bag and Sephora Play Box…
The Bag – This month the IPSY glam bag consisted of two-toned bags, mine was blue and black nothing really fantasy, the material felt like suede and everything clings to it so I’ll probably be gifting it away.
SLMissGlam B36 Tapered Highlight Brush – This brush may be inspired by fairytales, unicorns and mermaids but it also means business. Not only does the tapered shape make applying your highlighter, bronzer and contour super simple, but it can also be used with powder, liquid and cream formulas. The handle is a nice pastel blue which looks nice on any vanity. As with all SLMissGlam brushes this one too is fluffy and 100% cruelty-free.
Colourpop Cosmetics Pressed powder shadow in Paper Tiger – I love Colorpop Cosmetics (aside from their mirror labeling that is confusing at times). Their shadows always have a great amount of pigmentation and are always super soft, Paper Tiger was no exception to this rule. It’s an orange/brown shade on my light skin and would make a great base color.
‘Tini Beauty Barfly Highlight in Candlelit – I hadn’t heard of this brand until I received this highlighter and I was pretty surprised by it. The packaging is adorable with a small martini glass and a twist up applicator stick. It’s made with super-fine pigments that really catch and reflect light.
Skyn Iceland Berry Lip Fix with Wintered Red Algae – I always get dry cracked lips when seasons change, especially when then frigid breeze and low temperatures arrive. This is a great chap stick that helps coat and sooth my lips before they start to crack and dry. This Chap Stick does have an icy cool feeling on the lips and tastes like berries. I would advise you not to wear this product if your lips are already cracked open and bleeding because this does make them burn at that point. This product is vegan and all natural.
Lime Crime Diamond Crushers in Lit – This is a beautiful iridescent pink shade that is filled with glitter and sparkle. It’s versatile so you can wear it over any lip color to switch up the shade or wear it alone. This shade does stay put once it’s dry but the sparkles and glitter do transfer so keep that in mind before purchasing this item.
Sephora Play Box
Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara – A jet black mascara that creates long, beautiful lashes with a unique curvy brush that builds volume starting at the hard-to-reach center lash line.
Origins Clear Improvement Active – A gentle yet highly effective charcoal mask that draws out impurities for clearer pores. Expect brighter-looking, smoother-feeling skin when you apply this mask containing white China clay and activated charcoal – it acts as a magnet drawing out pore-clogging toxins.
Moroccan Oil – An Argan oil hair treatment that conditions, protects and adds shine to your strands. This formula acts as a base for your hair, prepping it for other products and styling tools or as a smoothing, finishing step. Not only does it add lustrous shine, but it even speeds up your hair drying time.
Sephora Collection Ultra Shine Lip Gel in Perfect Nude – A super light lip gel in a soft pink shade that brings out the best of your natural lip color. This moisturizing gloss visually plumps with its light-reflecting formula and high-shine finish to create the ultimate nude lip.
Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum – A skin-saving formula infused with grape water to boost hydration and soothe even the most sensitive skin. Hyaluronic acid and grape water work to aid your skin’s moisture balance. Patented grape seed ingredients brighten and repair for a soft and smooth complexion.
Burberry My Burberry Blush – A fruity and beautifully feminine floral fragrance that captures the vibe of strolling through a London garden. Definitely one of my new favorite scents if you haven’t tried this you are missing out!
I enjoyed both bags, but one slightly more than the other. Let’s start with my Ipsy Bag, I really like the SLMISS GLAM makeup brush it’s super soft and adorable but I also have a ton of brushes so I really didn’t need another brush but it’s cute nonetheless. Next the Lime Crime Diamond Crushers in Lit, it’s really pretty but I don’t think I would wear it for the Fall time even though this bag claims to be about Fall; to me it’s definitely more of a summer time lip product. Since the glitter/sparkles do transfer it’s not one of my favorites because I don’t want a mouth full of glitter when taking a drink. The SKYN Iceland lip fix is good, it feels hydrating and is definitely a keeper for the winter months. The ‘Tini Barfly Highlighter was surprisingly good, I’m not going to say it’s my favorite but it’s nice for on-the-go. I love Colourpop Cosmetics but Paper Tiger just doesn’t go well with my skin tone as well as I would like, I do plan to pair it with some other shades and see if I can get create something nice, but if it fails I will be gifting it to someone. Now to the Sephora Play Box…I love the Marc Jacobs mascara, the wand is nice and my lashes look fantastic after using this. The Moroccan Oil smells nice, but it made my hair really oily so I won’t be using it again and will be gifting it to someone else. The origins charcoal mask was nice, the tube was bigger than expected and I like the results I’ve seen from using this so far. The Sephora lip gloss, I’m not a huge fan of glosses to begin with and definitely don’t like glosses that are sticky and this gloss is very sticky, it reminds me of the glosses I would get when I was a kid with that being said I’m going to give this to my one of my nieces. The applicator is cute those but the formula is terrible honesty. The Caudalie Thirst Quenching Serum is good it didn’t irritate my skin and didn’t leave behind any residue or tacky feeling so I enjoy it. The Burberry Blush fragrance is AMAZING!! I love it so much I plan to get a full size one soon, it’s definitely one of my new favorite scents if you haven’t tried it yet, you are missing out.
From my thoughts it should be pretty clear who the winner is, but I’ll go ahead and state that I believe Sephora Play won this month, I’m not sure what Ipsy was thinking but someone clearly dropped the ball. If you received these boxes let me know who you think should win. As always thanks for stopping by my channel be sure to follow me to stay up-to-date with even more goodies.
